Spring is upon us, or so the calendar would have us believe. Mother Nature seems to be a bit confused this year. For those of us that have lived in Utah all our lives, we tend to just shrug our shoulders. Newcomers to the state are finally figuring out what we mean when we say you can ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon, all within 30 minutes of your home.  I saw a meme last month on the internet. It had a picture of Punxsutawney Phil, the famous weather predicting groundhog. The meme said, “Six more weeks of winter, U.S.A. Except you, Utah. Your weather does its own thing.” So very true.  

With spring comes those pesky spring chores. We hit the yard running and we arm ourselves with our trusty hand saws, trimmers, clippers, chainsaws, and mowers. So much to do, so little time between the freak winter/spring storms. With all that cutting and trimming comes a lot of green waste. What to do with it all?  Some of you have the space and like to burn it. This requires a burn permit and can be obtained thru the Utah Department of Environmental Quality Division of Air Quality at their website: http://www.airquality.utah.gov/Compliance/OpenBurning/index.htm     

There is no charge for the burn permit.

Many of you prefer to haul your green waste away. The Weber County Green waste facility is located at 867 West Wilson Lane in Ogden and is open Monday thru Friday from 7am-5pm and Saturdays from 8am-5pm. There is a charge for dumping at this facility and you can obtain a one-time use voucher from Pleasant View City, one per household that will save you $5.00. Call or stop by the City Office for more information or to obtain one.  

Just a reminder to help keep our City storm drains cleared and flowing freely. The City Crews do a great job, but they can always use your help. You’re the best eyes and ears for everything going on throughout the city.  If you see a problem and can remedy it, that would be awesome. If you can’t manage it alone, please let us know of the problem so we can get right on it. (801) 782-8529.  

We have been busy planning our Founders’ Day celebration and as we have discussed the events and the great support we have in planning, executing, and attending each and every event. It gives me great pride to be a part of the greatest community in the state. Our planning reminds me that the Mayor, The Council and the Staff are all here to make your life better.
