We are just a few weeks away from the first day of autumn. The leaves will be flying in no time and hopefully temperatures will be reasonable for a time. I’m sure many of you are like me and enjoy a colorful and cool fall. Our children have returned to their various schools and we welcome our new charter school, Capstone Classical Academy which opened for this school year. They broke ground in February and pulled off a great feat in finishing construction and opening just six months later. They are located on the west side of Highway 89, across from Woodruff Auto.
Speaking of children and school, I would like to thank all the wonderful professionals that make our schools great. There are so many to thank that I dare not start naming even the positions as I am afraid I would forget someone. From the administration on down to anyone that works to better our children’s lives I thank you. However, I really do need to call out one special group of people. These are the volunteers that help in the schools. The PTA moms and dads and the many other great people that read, tutor, and are in so many other spots helping with our children. They truly realize that these children are our future.
Please remember as you are hurrying to get to work or to the store or wherever you are going that you watch out for these students. Remember to obey the school zones and watch out for the crossing guards. Drive like their lives depend on you, because they do!
Lastly, a shout out to our Youth City Council. They prepared a display for the Weber County Fair Community Booths exhibit and it was awesome! It won the People’s Choice Award, an award that the attendees of the fair vote for. It was such a fun display. I hope that many of you had a chance to view it. Again, well done YCC.
To all of you, thanks for caring, thanks for all you do, and thanks for being good neighbors. I am committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure that we remain the best place to not only grow up, but the best place to grow old.
