
Through classroom learning and hands-on practice, participants will learn:
Surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries, rescue skills – in
the water and on land, first aid training, professional rescuer CPR – to help
you prepare for any emergency, and professional lifeguard responsibilities like
interacting with the public and addressing uncooperative patrons.
PASSING:
To pass course, participants must attend every class session, achieve 80% or
better on each of the written exams (2), and achieve 100% on the Final Practical Skills
Scenarios
CERTIFICATION:
Upon completion of between 25-30 hours of classroom and pool
training, successful participants will receive a certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED from the American Red Cross, valid for 2 years.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Participants must be 15 years old by the last day of the course.
• All participants are required to pass a pre-course swimming test in order to continue
with the rest of the course:
• Swim 300 continuous yards (You may use the front crawl, breast stroke or a
combination of both.) You must tread water for 2 minutes using only your feet. You
must also swim 20 yards (Freestyle or Breaststroke), surface dive to a depth of 12
feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to
the starting point.
• There must be six (6) participants in order to run the class.
• No guarantees that all students will pass the class.
PROGRAM FEES:
$45 Swim Test Administration Fee (due at time of registration)
$135 Lifeguard Course Fee (due the 1st day of class) This Course fee includes the
price of your instruction time, Lifeguard Training Manual, and resuscitation mask.
All fees are non-refundable.
